Where does Ancient Swamp Kauri come from?
Thousands of years ago northern New Zealand was covered in giant Kauri forests, some of which became buried in the wetlands or swamps from some sort of catastrophic event, the giant Kauri trees were preserved in the swamps due to the lack of oxygen. As the swamps drained away thousands of years later, the Kauri has become visible at the surface and is now being recovered to make products such as this one.
Size (mm):Outside: 180 long x 75 deep x 55mm high Inside: 160 long x 54 deep x 34mm high Weight: 300g Care information: This box is finished with natural oil and shellac, so it is quite durable and easy to clean. The only cleaning it should need is dusting and occasional good rub with a soft cotton or woolen cloth keep the shine. The occasional polish with a wax based polish (beeswax base is good) can be beneficial especially coming into summer, but use sparingly and rub vigorously to remove any surplus. Surplus wax will attract dust and cause the box to look dull. DO NOT KEEP IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. Early morning or evening sun is fine but leaving the box in the hot sun all day will cause distortion of the timber. All timber absorbs and expels moisture at different temperatures and humidity so it is best to try and avoid extreme changes.
