Woodzone was originally established in 1990 by Matthew and Vanessa Vallings as Colonial Woodturning. The name was changed to Woodzone in 1999 when we felt it was necessary to modernize our image.
With over 30 years of experience working with solid timber, Matthew has an ever increasing passion for his work, creating and designing many high quality pieces.
We use all kinds of timber mostly New Zealand natives such as Kauri, Rimu and Matai, new and recycled. As these resources are becoming more limited, New Zealand grown plantation timbers of high quality are being more widely utilized eg. Eucalyptus Gum and Cypress varieties such as Macrocarpa.
